My grandmother was Mrs. Ruby Valerie "Tee" Woollen Miller, born Guilford Co., N.C., 1885; reared by her twenty years older sister, Mrs. Lillian Elizabeth "Muttie" Woollen Lee of Old Salem, N.C. Their parents were Sgt. James Anderson Woollen, CSA, musician, and Susan Caroline Malcolm (daughter of Pvt. James Landreth Malcolm, CSA musician). Sgt. & Mrs. Woollen are in the 1890's book "Lee Family of Virginia" by Edm. Jennings Lee, because Lillian wed the son of Chas. Carter Lee, older brother of Gen. Rbt. Edw. Lee, Sr., CSA. Sgt. Woollen's parents were John D. Woollen and Rebecca Heath, the son of Taylor's Island, Dorchester Co., Md., Lt. Levin Woollen, Sr., of the "New Market Blues", etc.
