I am not related to this Family, however I grew up in East Tennessee. There is an area east of Townsend Tn. called Cades Cove. It is part of The Great Smokey Mountain National Park. Cades Cove was set apart from the rest of the world by GOD because of the beauty he had placed there. One of the early residents of Cades Cove was John P. Cable. Mr. Cable built a grist mill there. Cable's Mill still stands today, and is quite an attraction. You can find pictures and the History. Google.. Cable's Mill, or Cades Cove.
If you are related to this family there is a lot of history here. The Cove was so isolated, placed deep between the mountains, that The Civil War almost missed it. An occasional deserter or straggler would wander into the Cove, but that was about it. There is a One-Way 12 mile road that circles The Cove and Deer and Bear can be seen. There are several OLD Churches and graveyards in The Cove. When you take the road up to Cades Cove, you will go to Cades Cove. There is nothing else up there.
Good Luck!
