Hi Julie,
Is it possible for you to find a cemetery to read the inscription of Edward. Perhaps there was an old bible. Perhaps there was a name of a house/property as some people brought out their farm name and put it on a house.?? Perhaps there is a shipping record of their arrival which can give place of origin. Perhaps a direct descendant.
I'm trying to provide a hint for you to follow in finding out more about your ancestor. There may have been a Marriage or death certificate.
