The lore in our family of 6 D'Orazio's outside of Philadelphia (Wilmington Delaware) for years was that D'Orazio meant "of Gold." Then in college I asked an Italian professor and he said "of the orators." But I don't think it's anything so prosaic: "of Horatio" (d'oratio) seems the most likely. Any comments?
