I don't have any info on his parents, but if you would like, I could e-mail you a picture of their headstones, and if you have a month John died, I can see if the Fulda Free Press or the Slayton paper has his obituary. Maybe the obituary would tell you something. Also, the Murray County Historical Society has some of the cemeteries indexed and they may be able to tell you what cemetery John's parents were buried in. I do not believe they are in the Prairie Hill Cemetery with their son/daughter-in-law.
