Needing help

I am trying to find information on my grandfather when he served in the army and fought the Korean War. I have only five pictures of him with his uniforms on. And nothing else but his SSN to find information with.

One picture shows him as an MP while another maybe infantry. Unsure, but was told the ribbon he was wearing over his right shoulder meant infantry. Or if the color was for infantry. Which I dont know cause the picture is in black in white.

I heard that the place that held the records in Kentucky burnt down in 1973.. and all the Army records were destroyed between the dates of 1912-1959 and some of the discharge papers as well.

Does any one know where I can find the information I am looking for. Which is just about everything. ~laughs~

Thanks,
Carmey
