RM 8648 Stanley Skelton United nations , joined forces with the 41 Independent Commando Royal Marines . He went MIA 20/11/1951,Chosin Reservoir He was 18yrs old.
In 1953 we were informed he had died in a Korean POW Camp.
We never got any of his personal effects, nor were we told where he died or where he was buried .
It was not until 2001 rhat we recieved his death certificate . this stated Place of death Korea
Cause of death Korean POW.
It took over 30 years to persuade our town council to put Stanleys name on the War Memorial .
We think Stan died in Camp 10 on 11/4/1951
Did you know Stan , were you in Camp 10 , do you know where he was buried ? He was a dark haired ,good looking , full of fun boy from Scarborough Yorkshire England,
Our Mother kept a news paper cutting , a photo of POWS We believe Stan is in this photograph.
Any info at all will be greatly appreciated
Thank you for taking the time to read this.
