I am in much confuesion as to the father of Monsieur LaForce after taking a tour of the listings that are on the web. Now I am totally confused because many people have his father as Rene LaForce, but as per the information below his father's name was Samuel:

"Catherine Sutherland (b. abt 1784; 03-01-1869 on 12-13-1802 in Botetourt County m Monsieur "Mount" Laforce (d 08-05-1814 s of Samuel Ladorce.
James Sutherland was surety for their marriage bond. Katy and Mount soon came to Russell County and, on Oct 1, 1806, William and Phoebe Foster conveyed 112 acres on he Clinch Rover to "Monsher" Laforce (deed book 4-22). On 02-02-1813, Moncier Laforce and Catherine, his wife, conveyed to David Muncey 5 1/2 acres to James Breeding 1061/2 acres on Sinking Creek (Deed Book 4-552). Monsieur LaForce died at Norfolk during the war of 1812. Catherine's application for a pension, as allowed by law, records: "John Hamon being duly sworn deposeth that the said Monsieur LaForce was under his command as a Captain in the service of the United States in the capicity of a private soldier, detached from the Militia in the County of Russell, and served at Norfolk in the 6th Regiment commanded by Lieut. Colo. Henry E. Coleman, that on the 5th day of October. 1814, and that the said Catherine together with the said children of the said Monsieur & Catherine reside in the county of Russell & is yet unmarried. Nancy Yeats a respectable person being duly sworn deposeth and saith that she was present & saw the applicant & deceased joined together in marriage in Botetourt County, Virginia. The said Catherine being duly sworn deposeth and saith the following are the names and ages of the children of the deceased, to-wit: Nancy about 12 years old - Ataline about 11 years old - Sarah about 10 years old - Elijah about 8 years old - James about 5 years old - Rachel about 3 years old." Russell County Order Book 5-357; affidavaits dated Nov 7, 1816)."
(JOHN COUNTS of GLADE HOLLOW by Elihu Jasper Sutherland p. 369-370)

It is so easy to get tangled up and I would like to be able to give Monsieur the correct father.

Thanks for taking time to read this and I ask that you respond to me directly via my e-mail famtrees@mounet.com
