Moncier (Mount Moncier, pronounced Mon seer not Monsieur) was born on July 21, 1768 to Rene La Force, Jr. and Agnes Moseby La Force. His birth is listed in the Douglas Register, which is available in most large libraries.
Samuel was an elder brother. Moncier had gone to KY with
brother Renald Rene La Force, III and stayed there until ca 1800 or 1801 thus he does not appear on the 1787 Botetourt Tax lists used as a Census record.
He returned to Botetourt Co, VA prior to Dec. 12, 1802 when he m. Catherine"Katy" Sutherland------sister of Henry Sutherland, who m. Samuel's daughter Agnes La Force.
Moncier and Katy, Henry and Agnes and Samuel moved to Russell Co, VA in the fall of 1808.
