Your Joel G. or Joseph La Force was most likely the illigitmate son of Mary La Force, daughter of Robert S. La Force of Claiborne Co, TN and Whitley Co, KY.
She m. Burton Bunch ca 1836 so he may very well the the father of Joel. I believe she had other children as well--Samuel La Force b. Claib. Co, TN in 1832. He lived in TN until after Civil War--he then moved to Lonoke, AR.
