Betty, Sorry to take so long to get back to you. I was a Katrina victim. Trying to get my life back in order. Samuel did NOT have a wife Agnes Bailey. That was just a theory to be researched--but has been proven false. I believe Samuel's wife was Rachel Agnes Moseby--his 1st cousin. Agnes(mother) had a brother Robert Moseby who also went to KY. He was m. to Sarah ? (list of widow's pensions in Woodford Co, KY 1810) Samuel's son Robert S. La Force (Claiborne Co, TN had a daughter Rachel b. in Botetourt Co, VA 1794 m. Reuben Parrot Claiborne Co Info from Sarah Moseby La Force Buchanan descendant Rachel (wife) must have died in 1808 as Samuel and Moncier families and others left for Russell Co, VA in fall of 1808. Don't know how long Samuel stayed in Russell; can't find any land records for him. There were some for Wash. County in 1790s but none after he moved to Russell--I think those were in what was later Russell but no luck on their disposition. He wrote a will in Claiborne Co in 1822 but don't know exactly when he died. One descendant gives 1834 but don't know where this came from. Another descendant actually saw the will in the County Court House before a fire that destroyed all the records there. I am still researching the children of Robert S. La Force. I believe the Robert M. La Force in Green Co, IL to have been his son. Robert and Samuel B. La Force (grandson of Samuel, son of Rane La Force)m. Brown sisters, Mary and Lucy. About 1818 several of Samuel's sons left Botetourt area and headed for the new IL/IN territories. Account by descendant of William Madison La Force---Dan Williams. Rane and brother Samuel La Force were already living in Brekinridge Co, KY (Rane's sons Samuel B. and James Logan were born there). Samuel left for IN by 1818 (Tax records Brekin. Co) Louise La Force Roberson roberson1910@bellsouth.net NOTE: new email address Notify Administrator about this message?
