William M.La Force: Son of Rene La Force and Martha (Patsey) McGee is in a photo with his sibs: James Logan La Force, Samuel La Force and Eliza Brown (probably widow of William Brown who is buried in La Force Cemetery, Carthage, MO. This possibly is not the same Wm. M LaF, so I am throwing him into your mix in case this is the one you are looking for, not the other one. died March 13, 1897 Obit: William La force, who came to the Comstock in 1863, died in Gold Hill yesterday morning at about 9 o'clock, death being caused by inflammation of the bowels. He was carman at the Gould and Curry mine at the time of the big fire there which cost the lives of 11 men. He was very widely known among old Constockers and leaves many friends. He was a single man, but leaves a nephew, Joseph La Force in Los Angeles, and two brothers and a sister in the East. He was a member of Silver Star Lodge of Masons and the Gold Hill Miner's Union. He was a native of Missouri aged about 70 years. I do not have the name of the newspaper, but I would suspect the Virginia City local paper. I know this William M. 's line because the nephew mentioned Joseph was my grandfather's brother. There are several cemeteries in the area, this one is visible from the town to the north east. There also is a couple named Evans: Could be a cousin He has a tall monolith stone with the Masonic symbol on it and enscribed: William M. La Force died March 13, 1897 aged 71 years Notify Administrator about this message?
