Hi,

Regarding you request for information regarding Mabon’s from Chirnside. My father (George Stewart Mabon) along with his brothers and sisters ran the family grocers shop in Chirnside in the 1930’s, their father founded the business.

My two sons and I have done some work on our family tree and have a Margaret listed, but was born on the 23rd of May 1835, this may be the same person, depending if you have the DOB or baptism date, not sure which we have, however our Margaret was born in the parish of Bowden, some 20 mille from Chirnside. Her father was a John Mabon (b:1815).

Our Margaret had a brother William (b:4th March 1790,d:13th Dec 1867) give that your Margaret was born 1834, this could well be her father.

We have put together a web page of all our known Mabon’s at www.themabons.co.uk, might be worth a look

Stewart, Keith & Steven Mabon
