Paul, There are still a few of the Obannons in this area.
Susannah Thompson was a sister of my Andrew Peyton Thompson who lived near Mayslick and daughter of James
Thompson, first surveyor of Lincoln Co. Va. Died in Garrard Co. Ky. William Obannon's brother Daniel also married a sister of Wm's. wife. These families migrated from Fauquier to Mason Co, Ky. Lincoln Co. Ky.(now Garrard)
and Woodford Co. Ky and married into each others families
for several generations. Families include, Obannon, Pepper,
Smith, Porter, Burdett, Pollard, Swope. Samuel Pepper was
raised by Bryant Boru Obannon as a servant boy and offered the same opportunities as his other children. Your William is the son of Andrew Obannon and Mary Pepper(first
married to Col. Joseph Smith Jr.) Andrew was the son of
John Obannon and Sarah Barbee and Mary was the daughter of
Samuel Pepper and Elizabeth Holton. I beleive that William and Sussanah moved on to Missouri. Do you know this for sure. If you need other info on these families, let me know. Thanks Harold W.
