George W. Packer, Jr. invented a Wall Builder and Stump Extractor and received a patent for it in 1865. It was used around the Mystic, Groton, and Stonington areas to clear fields, build stone walls, and it was used in a quarry to haul stones. He was the son of Captain George Packer.
