I imagine our guys were distant cousins. David Quackenbush married Mary Love Dickson after her first husband, Orvile Dickson was a casualty of the Civil War. Mary was my husband's gAunt, the daughter of Clinton and Mary Stalker Love. I have not done extensive research on Quackenbush line, mostly the Love line, but I do try to find as much information as possible on the allied families to properly identify them. David was born in Onondaga Co. NY in 1839. Our Love family was living there at the time, but when Mary was still a small child, they moved to Wisconsin. The Quackenbush family also moved to the state, but I am not aware of the date of the move. David was the son of Jacob (1796, Montgomery Co. NY) who married Johanna Holcomb. This information is verified on the marriage papers of David and Mary. Jacob was the son of David (1760 NY who married Katrina Tolison (wife's name not verified.) The rest of the ancestory is not my research, but a compilation of online family trees at Rootsweb and message board information at Rootsweb and Genealogy.com so I cannot verify it for accuracy. David's father was Peter (1730 Schnectday NY) m. Elizabeth Davis David (1702 Albany NY) m. Anna Schooth/Schott Pieter (1678 Albany) m. Marinis lnu Johannas Pieter (1639 The Netherlands) Pieter 1614 Holland Pieter 1590 Holland Jan Quackenbush/Quackenbosch/Quackenboos David and Mary Love Dickson were married in Vernon Co. WI in 1868. Jacob was living with them when he died in 1872. Their line later moved into Slayton, Murray, MN. They were the parents of four children: John, Edwin, Jacob, and Maud The Quackenbush family has several marriages into the family of Mary Stalker Love, Mary's mother. They had close ties in Albany County, NY where Mary Stalker was born, and the fact that both families migrated to the same area of Wisconsin is not surprising. Mary received title to some land in Kansas from Orvile Dickson's family, and she sold this land to her brothe Jeremiah Love, who was our ggrandfather. I have copies of those transactions. Mary died in 1914 in Slayton, MN, and David died there in 1920. I would like to compare notes and information with any of Mary and David Quackenbush's descendants. Maybe someone in that family would have some information about Clinton Love who is our brickwall. I have worlds of information about his descendants that I would gladly share with them.
