Granville was the son of James Henry and Sophia C. (Short) Quackenbush. He was born 3 Feb. 1837 and died 20 April 1908. The parents' names come from his death certificate, although his sister Jane Ann Collier's obituary lists the father as just Henry Quackenbush. The mother, Sophia C., aged 53, appears to be living with Granville on the 1860 census of Cooperstown, Town of Otsego, Otsego County, NY.

If you don't already have a copy of Granville's Civil War pensions, I think you should send for them. Both he and his second wife Minnie received pensions so there should be a lot of information in the files.
