I'm sure that your family legend for brothers settling in Conn. is really a version of Pieter Q. who came to New York and had three sons. Each branch seems to have a different number of brothers, coming from either Holland or occasionally Germany (the word "German" in German is "Deutsch", so the confusion has a good explanation). It is not surprising that the story gets a little off since it has now been about 11, 12 or even 13 generations since the original Pieter Q. arrived over 350 years ago.

In all my years of reseach, I have only found one Q. family that appears to have come separately, and they came to Michigan from Holland in the mid 1800's.
