Hi Cynthia...my experience with naturalization papers, at least in MN, is that more info is given on the Declaration of Intent to Become a Citizen form which was completed about 5 years before actually becoming a citizen...in Mn, they were filled out in the county that the person lived in...it is possible that you might find the region within resent day Germany that he came from, i.e. Bavaria, Hesse, Pomerania. etc...it might also tell where he entered the U.S....good luck diana
