Dear Brian, Thank you very much for your response on the forum. I thought I'd post for you what information I know about my Tackaberry family. (I tried to send an email but it did not go through). I actually have discovered some more detailed family records, and the Richard you mentioned is indeed my great-great-grandfather, and Margaret Jean Tackaberry (Jenny)'s father. Richard, born in 1845, married Mary Jane, nee Bradley. Jenny was born in 1878. I actually have the very picture you mentioned--the one of Jenny's wedding! Wow, that's amazing that it is also in your grandfather's book. I believe I once had a copy of Mr. Warder's book. My grandmother was Thelma Carter Ellis, Jenny's daughter. (She recently died and is now buried in the Lions Head cemetery.) I found the book in her box of pictures and mementos a few years ago, but it has since been lost. I would love to get another copy, do you know where I might find one? Perhaps in the Lions Head library? According to my records, Nathaniel and his wife Margaret, nee Fernel, were born in Dublin, Ireland in 1813 and 1821, respectively. As their son, Richard, was born in 1845, the couple must have emigrated from Ireland to Lions Head after marrying. (The records inform me that they wed in Dublin.) I am not sure why Nathaniel's name does not appear in the assessment from 1872, but he did die in 1874 in Lions Head, so I assume he remained there all of his life. Nathaniel Tackaberry's grandparents came to England in William of Orange's army when he married Mary of England. They were granted a plot of land in Ireland and that it where they lived from then on. Lions Head is your hometown? We actually have a cottage there on Whipporwill and my family has been coming to Lions Head for 50 years. Many of our cousins/close relatives have cottages on Carter Lane, as, of course, my grandfather Chet Carter (who married Jenny) owned that stretch of the bay originally. I consider Lions Head a true second home as we are so deeply rooted there. It truly is a beautiful place, and I am proud that my ancestors are a part of its history. I hope you found this helpful/ interesting! Thank you again for your response. Sincerely, Hilary Ellis Notify Administrator about this message?
