Paschal Watson served in Captain John R. Lemmon’s Company in Colonel John McDonald’s regiment from Ross County, Ohio. McDonald’s regiment served either in northern Ohio or at Fort Detroit in the final days of the War of 1812 performing guard duties. His service record is at the National Archives in roll box 220, roll record 1453. You will probably receive information from one muster roll and one payroll report which may give more details on his service. He served in the militia and not in the regular army. Use the same forms as for the regular army but mark them as militia.
The regular army and the heirs of militiamen killed during the war received land bounties in Illinois, Missouri and Arkansas. Most of these men sold their warrants and did not move to these states since the land was in still Indian territories. Many did settle but years after the war.
In 1855 militiamen were awarded land bounties. They could claim any federal land in any state. Again, many sold their warrants.
If either Paschal or his wife lived passed 1872 then one of them may have applied for a service pension.
