From ROBERTS family known to have been in Grainger/Knox/Anderson county area during War of 1812. Roberts, Jacob, Dmr, Col Wm Johnson, Capt Jas Tunnel, E TN Militia (pg 431, "Tennessean's in the War of 1812" by Sistler) Jacob ROBERTS is son of William ROBERTS (Rev. War pension #S17054) and Ann VANDERGRIFF Family history book from late 1950s claims that William ROBERTS enlisted Rev. War at 14 years old and also served in Indian Removal. This might be confusing William with his son William A. ROBERTS (Jacob's brother). William ROBERTS would have been about 53 years old in 1815 William A. ROBERTS would have been about 14 years old in 1815 William ROBERTS known to be in Grainger Co. in 1808, pension claims he moved to Knox Co. for a year, then Anderson Co. ~1810, his sons Jacob and William found in 1830 census for Anderson Co.; family to Hamilton Co. in early 1830s.
